Fun Things to Do In Wellington This Summer

After my recent flying visit to Wellington I thought i'd share some of my favourite things about the capital, it really is a magic place!

Fried Chicken, Curly Fries and 'slaw from Sweet Mother's
 (In no particular order)

1.       Eat & Drink
Sweet Mother’s Kitchen – Home-style American food at the Mount Vic end of Courtenay Place. Enjoy a peanut butter shake, a burrito or some curly fries. Get in early as it’s no secret this place is good!
Scopa – The only place to buy a Hot Chocolate in the capital; thick, creamy and a perfect accompaniment when exploring the city at night. I doubt you’ve ever tried anything the same.

2.       Shop
Space Suit – David Bane Jerseys, Dungarees, & velvet dresses, just a sample of what you will find at this quirky fashion store on Cuba. Styles are either imported international vintage or new and on trend.
ALC (A Lost Cause) – Locally owned and operated clothing label also on Cuba St, producing graphic t-shirts and hoodies with Wellington’s tattoo culture influence.
Good As Gold - Premier fashion and street-wear boutique home to top quality brands from New Zealand and overseas including Cheap Monday, Karen Walker, WESC, & Stolen Girlfriends Club. They can be found in their über cool store on Victoria Street.

3.      View
Kirkcaldie & Stains – The famous Christmas Shop, located on the second floor of the Kirks department store on Lambton Quay. Here you will find gorgeous Christmas displays and decorations of every shape, colour and size. Bring out your inner child!
Street Art – Wellington is famous for its street art, and it’s not hard to find some amazing works just by walking around the city. Some of my favourite pieces can be found on and around the Cuba Street-Ghuznee Street-Taranaki Street area, including Young Gifted and Broke by BMD on Wigan Street.
The Harbour at night – Walk down to Lambton Harbour after dark and you will see another side of this beautiful city. The lights across the water are just stunning, and the whole waterfront is so inviting.
